Will my cake be ok in the fridge overnight if I collect it the day before my event?
Yes! All of our cakes can be eaten 24 – 48 hours after pick up. We recommend you to wrap the entire cake box in 2 layers of cling film before storing in the fridge. This keeps the cake free of fridge odours and helps any edible flowers to remain fresh. Bring the cake to room temperature before serving. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heaters or flames.
Are these the only cakes you do?
No these are just the basic styles that you can order from our online store.
We can do almost any cake our client requests, please just fill out a design a cake form.
We do book out very fast so please get in early to avoid disappointment but we try our best to always try and fill last minute orders. (If your cake is required less then 2 weeks a $10 late booking fee occurs)
I need a cake now, Do you sell any cakes in store?
We sure do but we have limited stock daily of our delicious cabinet cake range.

Do you do cake tastings for weddings?
Yes we have a beautiful store front where you can sit and relax whilst enjoying some tea, coffee and a huge selection of freshly baked treats onsite daily, we also do take away tasting packs.

What is the difference between Buttercream, Ganache and Fondant Icing
Buttercream is a soft fluffy sweet mixture of butter and icing sugar used as filling and toppings for most of our cakes.
Ganache is cream and chopped chocolate of any kind. The mixture is thick creamy and rich, perfect for using under fondant as it sets very firm.
Fondant is a thick paste made of sugar and water and often flavoured or coloured, Fondant is great for making hard toppers and covering cakes, it is very sweet.
We use Buttercream unless asked to use other products.
Are the flowers used on the cakes edible?
If they are sugar paste flowers then yes they are, if they are real flowers then NO you must remove all flowers and tape from your cake before serving.
Do you make Vegan Cakes? How about Gluten Free?
Yes we can but our kitchen is not certified Gluten Free kitchen so this is an order at your own risk. Our kitchen is used daily with Gluten and Dairy so keep in mind there may be a chance of cross contamination but we do our best to sterilize all equipment used.
How far in advance should I book my cake with you?
Minimum 7 to 14 days notice, Maximum 6 moths notice. We take orders on a first come, first serve basis and have limited availability. All of our cakes are made to order. We get booked out every week.
What's the best way to take care of my cake once I collect it from your kitchen?
Keep the cake box on the floor of your car and make sure the air conditioning is on.The floor is the flattest and most stable part of the car.Try to avoid putting it on the seat, as it can cause the cake to slope during transportation.Keep your cake refrigerated and bring to room temperature an hour before serving.If your cake is fondant Keep it out of the fridge but in a cool place.
Can I change my order once it's been placed?
This is dealt case by case, we always try to accommodate the changes but sometimes we unfortunately cant. Please phone the shop asap and let us know what you would like to change.
Do you do deliveries to homes and venues?
Yes, we provide a delivery service for weddings only. Our delivery price is based on Google maps $1.00 per 1 minute round trip from our store front to venue and back.
What's your deposit & cancellation policy?
A 50% deposit must be made in order to secure your order and event date, our last day to secure your booking is no later than 2pm each Thursday.
Being a small shop, we are only able to take a very limited number of custom orders for any given week. We must often decline other orders in order to secure your place – in doing so we ensure that every order we take gets the proper amount of attention devoted to it.
If a custom cake order cancellation is requested 1 month or more prior to order date, 75% of your order deposit will be returned to you as store credit only , which is valid for one year starting from the date of cancellation. This credit can be used towards future custom orders only. (No cash refunds, remaining 25% is kept for our administration fees)
For wedding orders, in addition to declining other custom orders on your date, we may have usually spent time quoting, emailing back and forth, researching designs & techniques, made contacts with your venue, and ordered materials needed for your order. For these reasons, we are unable to refund your deposit any less than 8 weeks notice. (this is dealt on a case by case basis for the refundable amount of deposit)
If cancellation is not requested within our time frames above, no in store credit will be received. Sorry, we cannot make exceptions for any reason.
If your order has already been completed you will be asked to pick up and pay the remaining balance due on your order or risk loosing it being re-sold if not picked up on collection date.
*Customers receiving store credit have their credit stored for one year on file at Stormie.D’s Cupcakery* After one year from the cancellation date, store credits expire.
CHANGE OF EVENT DATE- POLICY
Often times, decorative elements of your cake will need to be made in advance to give enough time for drying. Therefore, a minimum of 14 days is needed in order to change the pickup or delivery date on any custom order. Post-ponement requests are handled on a case by case basis as availability may be limited for future requested dates.
We cannot guarantee that we will be able to move your order to the new requested date. For post-ponement requests made within the 14 days you will receive in store credit for 50% of your 50% deposit paid. We always make our best effort to accommodate the request. (No cash refunds).
If change of pickup or delivery date is requested less than the 14 days, no partial credit will be received in the event that we cannot accommodate the date change. Sorry, no exceptions.
I've left my cake to the last minute and the website says you are already booked out! Is there any chance you can squeeze my order in?
Unfortunately we have a strict 7 days minimum notice for all of our custom cakes, Due to being a very small shop we have very limited spaces for our custom cake orders, We do stock a few simple celebration cakes in our cabinet daily so please call us to ask our lovely staff whats available – (07) 5491 5812
Hi, welcome to my website! I would love to introduce myself my name is Stormie. Yes yes it is actually Stormie haha! I am an ambitious self taught baker/cake decorator who is always willing to push the boundaries.
I’m also a down to earth person, I like to balance my professional & family life. I believe professional life gives you exposure, confidence & sense of achievement whilst family time keeps you focused and humble.
I am originally from Albury/Wodonga where I ran Stormie.D’s successfully for 2 years down there. Me and Hubby wanted a change so I sold my 2 stores and moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2014. I opened Stormie.D’s in Caloundra Sept 8th 2015 simply because I found Caloundra a great location with a laid back attitude.
